Who should start for #USMNT vs Honduras #Soccer #Football
With the next round for friendlies upon us, I thought I’d share my two cents on who I would like to see play tomorrow. First, here’s the roster as provided by the USMNT website:
U.S. ROSTER BY POSITION
GOALKEEPERS (3): Bill Hamid (D.C.United), Tim Howard (Everton), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)DEFENDERS (7): Carlos Bocanegra (Rangers), Timmy Chandler (Nürnberg), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Oguchi Onyewu (Sporting Lisbon), Michael Orozco Fiscal (San Luis), Tim Ream (New York Red Bulls), Jonathan Spector (Birmingham City)
MIDFIELDERS (7): Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Michael Bradley (Chievo Verona), Clint Dempsey (Fulham), Maurice Edu (Rangers), Jeff Larentowicz (Colorado Rapids), Brek Shea (FC Dallas), Danny Williams (Hoffenheim)
FORWARDS (5): Juan Agudelo (New York Red Bulls), Jozy Altidore (AZ Alkmaar), DaMarcus Beasley (Puebla), Teal Bunbury (Sporting Kansas City), Edson Buddle (FC Ingolstadt)
I’ll be going with the 4-2-3-1 formation.
Keeper - Howard. It’s a no-brainer really but I do worry about his work load. Can we give someone else a shot for a half?
Defenders (Right to Left) - Dolo, Onyewu, Boca, Chandler. Timmy needs more reps at LB if he’s going to be the 1st choice there. I wonder if the coach will try Boca at LB?
Defensive Midfielders(Right to Left) - Edu, Williams. I really don’t know what Williams’ style is like but I know he plays defensive mid so I pairing him up with Edu. Beckerman played very well last time so he might have one of these spots.
Midfielders(Right to Left) - Dempsey, Bradley, Shea. While I don’t think an advanced role suites Bradley per say, I think he’s the best option. Also, I hope the coach lets Beasley get some time for Shea. Dude’s logged a lot of mins.
Forward - Altidore. Rumor has it that Jozy’s coach wasn’t too happy with the amount of playing time Jozy had during the last round of friendlies.
